Under general supervision, is responsible for devoting his/her attention to the care and development of the residents in one of the Agency’s residential facilities. Interacts in a manner which fosters dignity and learning in a way that helps lead to greater independence. Helps create a homelike atmosphere for residents in an agency facility.
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Direct Support Professional will include, but are not limited to the following:

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries, concerns or complaints from employees and customers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Basic understanding of statistics.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to resolve conflicts and mediate stressful situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift, move and position adults or children in beds, wheelchairs, toilets, showers, vans, etc. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling and pushing and pulling of heavy objects such as furniture and/or wheelchairs.
